1st Days For Everyone

Today was the first day of school for both my boys.

Kid Numero Uno … Headed to Middle School. It was the first time riding a bus to school, having a locker, a schedule … a lot of responsibility. Middle School definitely was NOT fun for me. I have been dreading this for a while now.  We kissed him good-bye at 0’dark hundred and watched him journey down the driveway (wiping away our kisses) toward his bus stop.

Then I went back to bed. What? The other one has like 2 hours before I needed to be in his school building!

As you can tell … this didn’t go quite so smoothly. I woke up late because I forgot to reset my alarm. He was waiting outside for me to take pictures and saw our neighbors heading in the direction of his school. When I found him on the porch he was near tears (oh … you can tell … oh, okay) and was mad that I was going to not only make him late for school but on his very first day. I tried to explain that we weren’t walking and we’d beat them there. His response: “Sure.” I was not feeling his confidence in me at this moment. We drove there, beat the neighbors, beat the school even opening to students and made it to his classroom with plenty of time to chat up his teacher about Physical Therapy during school for his arm. IN YOUR FACE KID! I didn’t say that but I wanted too. 😉 He found his desk and was happily sitting amongst an entire table of kids he knows.

His mood had drastically improved with just ten minutes and me being a rockstar. Sort of.

Then I was headed to Blaine, WA to assist on a newborn shoot with Brianna Widen! It was my first day sans kids in a long long time and I was excited. The hour and a half trip up was beautiful and I arrived with time to spare. I must have forgotten how perfectly small and wonderful babies can be. I was just in awe. She was the most easy going baby I have seen in a long time and Brianna captured some beautiful images of her. Then all of a sudden the day was gone and I had to get home before my boys did.  I didn’t make it in time to be home before my middle schooler but we both walked over to get his brother. We all had great amazing days. Now I’ve got to go and get some laundry done, walk my dog and edit edit edit. Sometimes life is better than good.

    1. It’s currently in progress. I was not in love with the other. Hoping in a few months to debut something better. For now … small changes are good changes.
