Snowed Out in April

This week has been a very busy week for me. I had a photo shoot every day this week. Fun! Of course the weather has NOT been cooperating. Monday it rained and rained hard. Reschedule. Tuesday it was freezing cold.

We did two sessions that day. It is so much fun to work with kids. Their personalities are so different. Even in the same families. I got to photograph two little girls from the same family. One is middle school age and the other in elementary. You can tell the older girl is very aware of herself. Aside from the fact that she was freezing, you could tell that she wasn’t quite sure if she should let her guard down. I remember being that age. I never had professional photographs but I can imagine I’d be unsure if I should get too comfortable. She was fun, happy and sweet. I’m sure my oldest son has a solid crush on her now! We went to the outlet mall nearby because she’s very into fashion and shopping. We had a great time and finished the session off with some hot chocolate at Starbucks! Both to warm up and as a treat for being an awesome subject! Afterward we headed to the park for her younger sister’s session. She loves the monkey bars. She was smart and wasn’t about to take that coat off right away. It wasn’t quite as cold as it had been earlier but it was still pretty chilly. We played on the playground, laughed a lot and had a good time. Eventually we got that coat off and got some pretty genuine smiles.

The next day we had an early morning session planned down in Snohomish. I headed out early to get a little bit of the lay of the land. Half way there, I began to notice cars driving in the opposite direction that were covered in snow. Weird. About three quarters of the way there, the rain was pouring down in sheets. I was thinking I should probably call it off when we hit the snow fall! YUP. Find the phone number and reschedule. After running to a couple of different appointments, I went home still shocked that it was snowing in Western Washington the first week in April. What did I do to cheer me up? Edited, the previous day’s images. Fun time. Nothing cheers me up more than a smiling face.
